10 bolt ????????'S
I want to eventually switch from my 2:73 gears to 3:23 gears. What I was wondering is, if I was to find a decent 10-bolt from a 6-cyl with that ratio, would it be as strong as the one thats in it now???? or would I be better off just getting new gears????

Yep, you can just swap rears altogether.
The only difference is drum vs disc brakes, and chances are both are drum so..

that v6 rear is not going to be posi though. You're not really going to notice to much of a difference with that small of a gear change maybe 2 tenths in a 1/4 mile.
As far as strength it depends on what year it is from I think in 88 is when they switched to 28 spline axles.

His TBI rear won't be a posi either.
And yea, if it's older it'll be slightly weaker, but again, with TBI he's not in any danger.
