i have a 1990 3.1 liter v-6 camro. i bought it with a bad tranny got one from pick ur part and tried my hand at rebuilding it. however i was apparently unsucessful at it. the transmission shifts into first and reverse only. anyone have anything i could be missing or just overlooked any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

Please describe a little better. Do you mean it goes into the forward gears but will not upshift from first , Or do you mean you have to place in the manual low position to move forward?

 

If you put the transmission into reverse it engages and drives. If you put the transmission into drive it engages but stays in first gear even if i manually move the gear selector throught the other gears. doesnt act like it wants to shift into any other forward gears at all. had this same problem before rebuilding. Thanks for any input you can provide.
