Buying and installing stall

Ok i have a 305tbi i was thinking of putting a 2200-2500 stall in it.
So how much would a stall like that cost?
And i heard something about a locking stall should i get one of those?
Then to have a shop install it how much dose it cost?
Thanks

Re: Buying and installing stall

I just spent $600 on a brand new stall converter, its a custom built 10" Lock Up style torque converter, 3000-3200 stall. DEFINITELY get lock up, otherwise you'll be running the transmission too hot. There are so many other arguments against NOT getting lock up to even consider otherwise. I had quotes for garages to install mine for $450 plus. Ending result, I did it myself to save the $$. Check out the below website on the lock-up..........

Re: Buying and installing stall

I got my edge racing 2800 stall for my L98. It was a blast! 9.5" and custom build to your specs, which in my case was bolt on L98.

it cost me about 550 shipped to my door. Good quality stuff. Not sure if the pricing has changed in the last 3-4 years but thats what i paid.

2500 stall would be a blast on that car of yours

Re: Buying and installing stall

If you're just looking to get a mild upgrade I would consider an S10 converter out of a 95+ 4.3 s10. They stall at about 2100-2300 behind a V8 IIRC.
