Swapping a Transmission

Hey there! I am new here, and I just signed up because I was looking to buy a project 3rd gen camaro. I am taking autotech in school, and this would be my first car. I'm 16, and don't care how long it will take to fix this up, but anyways. I was currently looking at buying a 1985 Camaro, but they say it's having transmission problems, so the few questions I have are:

I know very little about cars in general, but this is an autotech project, so
first question is, are all camaros F-Body cars, and if not, is this an F-Body?

second, How hard is it to do what this guide says? LINK

third, how much should I plan on spending on all the parts to switch it?

fourth, how much cheaper would it be to just stick with an auto?

Thanks for any help you can provide. I really am interested in starting to do these things.

Re: Swapping a Transmission

the 5speed swap is a part for part swap since they came in these cars. It requires 2 holes and swapping the pedals. I found that the pedals were the most difficult part of the project. If you are in autoshop and have access to a lift and such, it shouldnt be that bad. Just need to make sure you have all the parts. probably not something you will do in a day.

the t5 is not the strongest trans in the world, but in a stockish car it will be fine.

just make sure you have all the parts before you start, it sucks waiting on parts when the car is all apart

all camaros/firebirds are f-bodies.

if you are buying a used auto, it would be a lot cheaper that swaping to a 5speed. But manuals fun to drive.

I just re-read my question and I posted it wrong, but what I meant to ask was, they said that they are having transmission problems, so I was wondering if you would suggest replacing/fixing the auto in it, or buying a manual.
