Reinstalling Governor Cover Pushin Style 700r4
How do you get the cover back on, after you've taken it off while still in the car??? It's an 86 700r4 with the pushin cover.
I think it is back on...but i'm not sure, I couldn't get it back on very easily...I just took a hammer and a screwdriver and kinda worked the top side on, and then hit bottom side with the screwdriver, and then as well as I could hit the each side back and forth trying to teeter it back on, and I put a BIG bead of gasket maker on it to try and help seal.
The gasket maker started to come out all around, but i'm not sure if it's on....
Anyone know of a better way to get this cover back on????

Re: Reinstalling Governor Cover Pushin Style 700r4
I guess, noone has ever had to deal with the pushin covers while still in the car...must be blessed with the bolt on covers.
I figured out why it was leaking....while trying to get it in with the screwdriver/hammer I knicked a small hole in the outside case, gooped it up with rtv, let it cure.
Found a 1 foot stick of 2x4 and jambed it between the cover and the body, and kinda levered it on, worked to a certain extent....doesn't leak.
Still looking for some good ideas on how to do this, won't be the last time I take the cover off.
