Looking into a new transmission

Alright I am on a strict budget beyond all recognition. I need the best idea for the best buck. I have three options i believe too. But here is my scenario. I have a 383 motor going in my camaro this month. It will be putting 450hp n/a and 600+ with spray. I know my stock tranny wont handle it. thats a giving. I also will need a new tc for any of these things

OPtion 1. I buy a rebuild kit from proform and get the tranny rebuilt by someone.

Option 2. I swap a 4l60 in if its possible, not sure if it is, but I can get one for extremely cheap.

Option 3. Get a th-400. I guess they are cheap and can handle a lot of power. Only thing is idk if it weighs a lot more than a 700r4 or what.

Re: Looking into a new transmission

ok first 4l60 is a 700r4 just what they are called by GMs current nomenclature, unless you are talking about a 4l60E, the electronic version witch is pointless cause its the same strength and gears just some electric controls.... (on their current system its broken down by gear amount, mounting type, strength rating and electric or not i.e. 4l60 = 4 gears, Longitudaly mounted, 60 strength rating with 80 being the highest)..now next point if u just have someone stock rebuild your 700r4 it will blow with that much power....id say go with a built th400 but keep in mind u have to change, tc, drive shaft, and custom xmemeber with torque arm mount witch spohn makes a real nice one for aroun 3-400 bucks....or go for a built 700r4 that will bolt right in but i dont know about it with that type of power, check out bowtieoverdrives.com they have some rated for like 650hp.... what are you doing about your rear end?

I am going top be nice to it for now. I am going to do some strengthening welds and rebuil it since I had a kit lying around. The 700-r4 rebuild kit was rated to 650hp. I guess thats what I am going to do.

o i thought u meant a stock rebuild on the 700 well that sounds cool good luck, not to be a downer but remember its not gonna be a "if the rear is gonna blow, but a when" but have fun

Re: Looking into a new transmission

Lmao I totally agree. I got a rebuild kit for it, and I heard that doing some welds and stuff can help it out.
