Has anyone ever though of putting a manual transmission in backwards in front of the normal one. that way you could go 100mph at...say...800rpms. my dad had this idea and wants to do it to a truck or something.

 

Ya, some guy in Menasha did that already. Then he drove it down Oregon in Oshkosh (by Morgan's) and couldn't get it out of gear. The drawbridge was up on the Fox, and you can guess what happened next.

 

oh man! i wonder why that didn't work.....Oh well, it was an idea. i guess that project is off the list.

 

You can get a gear vendor's overdrive unit which will be almost the same thing. it provides an extra overdrive gear after the transmission.

 

Well the reason i asked about the trans, is because we have an old truck that runs, and a transmission laying around that is good.....so it was just an idea. either way, i just bought a 'maro on thurs, so all my time and money is going towards that right now.
