Clutch won't release
I just swapped a T-5 into my 83 yesterday. The car was an auto to begin with. Hydaulic setup is off of an 86. The clutch pedal felt heavy and would not release. I messed with it for a while and when I was pumping it, I heard a pop and then no pedal. I pulled the slave and it was leaking and I could push the rod in with little effort. I'm guessing it's bad now. Just out of curioisty, I put my balancer puller where the slave would go, extended the fork and it released fine with the motor running.
I've got another slave and master cylinder but I'd kinda like to know what caused it not to work in the first place. I hate to break a brand new part. The set I got was a take off from F-Body Motorsports (gotta love used parts..) so it coulda been bad already.
Also, how do you bleed the new slave, never done anything like that. The box it came in said that it must be bench blead, whatever that means. I'm kinda shy of messing with new, expensive parts without knowing what I'm doing

Re: Clutch won't release
Well, It works now. The slave was replaced to start with. I shimed the pressure plate .050" after that. Then, we changed the master cylinder. Blead the heck out of everything and finally ended up making a longer push rod for the slave cylinder out of an old fuel pump push rod. After all that back asward enginering, it works like it's supposed to!! It took a lot of blood, sweat, and beers but it's driveable now. I guess thats what you get for trying to work with missmatched parts.

a longer slave rod is just covering up the real actual problem.

Re: Clutch won't release
whats the real actual problem?? I have an 86 with a t-5. I just put in a fresh re built trans. I checked the throw out bearing when i put it in to make sure it was in right and it was. Now that the trans is in and i'm driving the car i notice that the clutch isnt disengauging fully... about 99%. When i sit at a stop light and take my foot off the breakthe car baraly creeps..
