Letting Off In 1st Spins Tires

Letting Off In 1st Spins Tires
My brother has an 86 Berlinetta with a swapped in 305 from a VAN. It has a 700R4 and B&M Megashifter.
Whenever he is driving (manually) with the B&M and gets passed 2-3 maybe 4,000RPM and lets off the gas the tires CHIRP, as if he popped the gas right before letting off....
What could make this happen..
Let me know what else you might need INFO wise to help his problem....Thanks.
P.S. His speedo doesnt read correclty, said it might have wrong speedo gear...
