What's up?? I just replaced the transmission on my 86 2.8. I had another 2.8 that needed a new engine so i used that tranny. It ran fine for a couple of days, but after the first time i really pushed the car alittle it started running like crap. there is a knocking coming from under the hood, but only when i accelerate.......when i go in to 2nd gear it acts as tho the throttle is wide open and there is a loud "spinning noise" but almost no acceleration, and then it just goes th rough the gears really quickly until it hits over drive, and then the engine sounds fine and normal, but there is still no acceleration or power (it will try to downshift, but then immediately go back to overdrive). I dont have any oil pressure untill i step on the gas and then it goes to between 20 and 40 psi, but it has always done that. There is clean oil in my engine, and this never occured before now. It has been this way for a day or two and it takes me 45 seconds or more to get up to 40mph even. i dont know a whole lot about transmissions and am not even sure this is the problem.........if it helps, i only replaced the stock transmission with another 700r4, and am almost positive i reconnected everything correctly. i have no idea what is going on, and any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

 

Sounds like the TV cable adjustment is wrong, Push the tab at the throttle body on the cable and then push the center of the cable back into the housing wile holding the tab down. Then release the tab and get into car and push throttle pedal down as hard as you can

 

its definately not the tv cable. its one of the few things i can rule out cuz i know how to adjust it properly!
