recently installed a zoom clutch kit (the oe replacment)

it seems to hold well ( have about 200 miles on it)
BUT it does chatter quite a bit im gonna give it some time to break in see if it is something i can live with.
1 flywheel was wet machined
2 new pilot bearing
install was fine no binding, throwout bearing was new as well, bearing shaft retainer was in perfect shape.

so just in case anyone cares i dont think i would reccommend this kit

just my opinoin though hehe

I have a Zoom OE clutch in my '68, it's fine. The most common cause of bad clutches is people bending the disk when they try to get the trans input shaft though it. I'm not implying you did that though.

yeah it wasn't my first clutch and its seems to be getting better as the clutch wears in so, trans slid in fine, i think you have to push pretty hard to bend the disc as its sandwiched between the flywheel and pressure plate i only wheigh like 135 pounds. hehe .. oh well it easy enough to swap so worse comes to worse it'll get replaced ....................in the mean time im gonna enjoy rowing my own gears..... good riddens 700r4 eheh

It happens when people don't support the back of the trans and the input isn't in the pilot bearing yet. I've done it before. If you're doing it on your back alone, stuff happens sometimes. Glad it's smoothing out for you. It's definitely more fun to row your own.

Re: zoom clutch kit opinion
i did it on my lift at work with a 2 ton hydraulic tranny jack so support was no issue, like i said its not a big deal to swap out so, it may happen but for now ill just giv it some time

Bringing this back up, how's that Zoom clutch been holding up for you? I'm trying to figure out what to use with a T56 and I can get a good deal on the kevlar setup.
