input shaft question

I am trying to figure out what torque converter to get and every thing I read says 27 or 30 spline input shaft. Well there are two sets of splines on my input shaft! One set has 27 the other has 30. How do I know I am looking at the right set?

thx

Re: input shaft question

You should be counting the splines on the INPUT shaft (the smaller shaft). 1985-up have 30 splines.

only if it is a v-8

v-6 still used 27 splines

also, some '85-'86 v-8's used the 27 spline input. not many. was an oddity.
