Quick T-5 question
In the middle of swapping out my t-10 to a t-5 (want the overdrive)
my question is, is the torque arm mount the actual mount that bolts to the trans, and torque arm the same as a 700r4 or are they t-5 specific. I'm pretty sure they're inter-changable, but not 100% sure. The mount from my t-10 is totally different from the t-5, and the torque arm is a bit longer. I'm gonna have to buy one from a junk yard, but want to know if there's any difference. Also is there any difference from a v6 and a v8 car, thanks

Re: Quick T-5 question
The 700r4 and T5 torque arms are the same. V6 and V8 ones are also the same. You will need a T5 style torque arm mount though, as they're different from the 700r4. You'll probably want to get the torque arm mount before you go to grab a torque arm because you'll need to know which way the "lips" are facing inside the bushing in the mount. Then you can go to the junkyard and find a torque arm that has the lips facing the proper direction for the mount you have. There's no rhyme or reason to which way they face on a particular f-body, so you just have to find one that's correct for your mount. My original 700r4 torque arm had the lips facing away from the driveshaft, and my T5 torque arm mount needed the arm with the lips facing towards the driveshaft. I found an 88 V6, T5 equipped f-body at the junkyard that had the correct torque arm, so I grabbed it. Btw, if you need a T5 torque arm mount, TPI Hearse has one for sale in the engine/drivetrain classifieds right now. Also, if you can find a V6, T5 car in one of your local junkyards, the torque arm mount off one of those will work on a V8, T5 trans. The V8 and V6 mounts have different part numbers, but I'm using a V6 one on mine, and it works just fine.
