i have a 84 camaro z28 w/ a 350 swap.tranny is unknown but believe it is a stock 700R.my problem is if i drive down the road,the car doesnt wanna shift from 1st to 2nd.if im stopped and manually put it in 1st it starts to go.same thing with 2nd,D +OD to start with.but doesnt wanna shift from 1st to 2nd while driving in D or OD.any possible ideas to check? also.would the safety neutral switch on the shifter possibly be the problem if it was bad?i say this b/c it had a bad connection and wouldnt even start for me.i fixed it and now starts right up.could this be the problem with my tranny not shifting?and which colored wires would i need to look at if it could be my problem?thanks in advance

 

Check the governor gear.

Remove the governor under the cover. Check the plastic gear.
