Moser 12 bolt
Moser 12 bolt
I've been thinking about putting one in my 89 Formula. While talking to one of the guys at Moser he stated that the gears they use make a "little" noise. Do any of you guys have one that can give me some personal feedback on the noise factor? Thanks

Re: Moser 12 bolt
slight hum at crusing speed, not a big deal, but I have experienced clunking when coasting at high speeds (like 60-70) but I have the detroit true track posi, seems the axels run free when no load is on them from the tranny. which from what they told me is a gear driven posi and not a spring posi??? 'm still trying to get a good answer on how to improve this.

Re: Moser 12 bolt
The noise factor is mainly in the type of gears you get and the setup. Any improperly set up gears will make noise. I had 3.73 US Gears in my Moser 12 bolt originally and it was very quiet. Richmond gears tend to make more noise because of the cut, I have 4.30 richmonds now and it has a very slight whine, nothing loud.

i have the tru-trac in my 9", its very smooth, no clunking at all, i would recommend it.
My rear is a tad noisy, mostly when you are off the gas and coasting.

Re: Moser 12 bolt
Well i have a moser 9" if that helps any and mine makes lot of noise
it's something moser is known for.
I'am also detroit true track user and have to admit it is a very agressive locker but I like it a lot and it is still streetable.
