I AM LOST!!!!!!!!!

Ok, well I just got my 91 t/a L98 700r4 car running, completely rebuilt engine, blah blah blah.

Ok, well I go to drive it, and shifts kinda funny, as in I have to rev it up really high for it to hit the next gear, ok I so I re-adjust the TV cable, and nothing it's the same. Ok a little background on the car, bought it last october not running, have receipts for a ton of work, just 3 months before I bought it, one receipt is $1700 dollars for a re-built 700r4 trans with a trans go shift kit. SWEET right? Well back to the story, I adjust the cable and all that, still dont shift until like 4500 rpms whether on the gas hard, or just trying to cruise it. and sometimes it wont up shift at all. sometimes it is just fine, only once or twice it will shift fine, the tv cable did NOTHING, well the fluid is new, obviously cause new tranny. it's full, and not dirty at all. Is there another way the tranny figures out when to shift? Sometimes I have this vacuum leak sound, and cant figure out where it's coming from. Maybe thats it? is there a vacuum line going to the trans? I just spent 7 months rebuilding this car, interior, complete port and polish, complete exhaust, c5 vette rims, DID IT ALL. And now it wont shift right, I am so frustrated. PLEASE HELP ME.

Sorry for the running paragraph.

Re: I AM LOST!!!!!!!!!

no vac line on the tranny. If you do not have your TV cable adjusted properly, you will easily burn the clutch. Does your tranny have the correct amount of transmission fliud? What is the condition of you t/converter? 4500 rpm for is way to high to have your tranny shift to 1st gear. My advice would be to take the car to the shop that did the transmission work and have them adjust it.

Re: I AM LOST!!!!!!!!!

TV cable is adjusted properly

Fluid is full

Could the shift linkage be the cause? if out of adjustment?

Well, I dont think it is the linkage, I think something is wrong with the trans, you can just be driving along, and it will downshift out of no where, would the torque converter be the cause of all the weird shifting?
