TH350 Servo question, maybe??

Ok I am in over my head here and I am aware of it so no need to let me know. LOL. I am installing a shift kit on a th350 trans I got off craigslist. I got all the springs and stuff in but when putting the valve body in I am comming accross a problem.

Ok, bare with me my nomenclature is not up to snuff on transmissions. The little pin (maybe a 1/4 inch in dia.) on the pan side of the valve body is gettting pushed up by what I think is the valve body servo guide pin?

Here is a pic with a arrow to the pin that is getting pushed up. It is being pushed when the valve body is being bolted down. It extends about 3/16 to a 1/4" from the valve body. I saw a few articles on rebuild and there pics don't show it pokeing up like that.

What am I doing wrong here?

First spring, spring retainer, pin, pin spacer, piston with slotted grooves toward you. Don't forget the piston seal. Which brand of Shift kit are you using?

Re: TH350 Servo question, maybe??

are you talking about on the trans side? The pin never came out. I tapped on it a little and it didn't go down any, I just taped lightly though because I don't want to f it up. The pin in the trans is sticking up about a 1/4" above the seperator plate which I believe is why it is not installing right.

I never took the servo off the valve body since the instructions said not to. It is a shift improver kit from trans go.

Also my piston does not have a sloted grove, it flat on both sided with a deeper grove in th center around the hole for the pin to go

If the pin that the arrow is pointing at, is moving, it should not move. You could have it welded, but the pin would have to remain perfectly straight, so the piston could move up and down the bore freely, and at the right height to work correctly. You will need another valve body most likely.

Re: TH350 Servo question, maybe??

Ok new valve body it is. But before I go buy a new one, is the pin that is pushing up on the valve body pin supposed to be sticking up so far? It is coming up about a 3/16 to 1/4 inch above the seperator plate. So when I tried to bolt down the valve body it pushed the pin out of the valve body.

I don't want to buy a new valve body and ruin the new one to because I didn't fix the problem. Thanks for your help.

Once the piston in the case is right, then you will not have this problem.
