Hey everyone - I just bought a new project, an 86 firebird with a 305/700r4 combo. I haven't had a chance to look over it too closely yet, but I had a quick question. The shifter moves freely without the key in the ignition, and I was wondering if this would prevent the car from starting. Is there a sensor that only allows the car to start in P/N?
I'll be going over the car in more detail next week, but I just wanted to see if I could get a head start.
Thanks in advance for any help.
P.S. - did the carbureted engines have mechanical fuel pumps?
