9 bolt carrier?

9 bolt carrier?

How do I figure out witch carrier I have and I have not pulled the cover to find gear ratio yet but from what I read any thing higher than 2.7 would be the 3 carier is that correct ? thanks

the ratio will be stamped on the side of the ring gear. the only ratio that is in common with GM ratios is the 3.08 and you can use that if you can find one. most common are 2.77 and 3.27. 3.45 ratios are hard to find. 9 bolt.com has parts if ya need them.

my quistion is I found the 9 bolt.com site and they talk about the 2 series and 3 series how do I now witch I have becuse I want the 4.11s but it says I need the 3 serious diff so I was just wondering if I need to buy that aswell

If you have the 2:77 gears and a 2-series carrier and you are SOL until you find a 3-series.

believe it or not a 3.08 is a 2 series, why i'll never understand but it is. so you need to find a 3.27 ratio or better. i wish they would do like some companies and make a 2 series carrier that are designed to run 3 series gears.

Thats backwards... there are gearsets with '3 series' ratios that are designed to be used on 2 series carriers. For the 10 bolts, anyway.

thats what i ment to say. being 9 bolts are of the minority i doubt it would happen.
