I have 400 small block that will be making above 400 lb/ft of torque. I am leaning towards rebuilding mine with a transgo kit and such. Or buying a complete setup. There is a guy on the ebay that sells complete 700r4's with cooler and all for $800 which is below most other complete setups. I read through his parts that he used and they all sound up too par. I just don't what I need to add to my stock tranny to hold up to the torque. $800 is about my max that is why I am looking at the buildup of my current tranny. I would buy all the pieces and parts neccesary and have a local perf. tranny shop do the work. What are your guys' experiences and knowledge in this area?

Hey, you are a little closer to me, i live in chicago. At my trans shop if you bring us your 700 we could build it up very good for about $800. you never know what parts that guy on ebay is really putting in you know, he could say one thing and when you get the trans it shifts like a dog. Send me an email at koby12@ureach and i could give you the number. I made it to chicago to where you live in about an hour and 45 minutes. Not bad. One other thing you could do is go to www.mfba.org and go into the indiana section and ask them where they get thier trans done, it would be closer to home too.

I have found these guy's on the net"700 Raptor"...can you tell me how many clutches you use and the band thicknesses? What do you think of this transmission. Like the pump you guys would use and such. I want to have a list of all the parts I will need so I can take it to a local trans shop and have them install it. Kind of like the Pro-built kit but I want to know how many clutches and such is included for each gear. And what servo and pump etc.
