Which rear gears to choose?

My '89 RS with the LO3 and auto tranny has got 2.73 gearing. Which ratio should I install to get better acceleration but get good milage, too? The engine's got just bolt-on modifications, may there occur a problem with a non-stock rearend ratio?

I would suggest 3.42's.They perform good and get you out of the hole quick while still allowing you to have good top end power. In my opion this is the best all around gear for daily driver.
