i am about ot buy a 8.8 posi 3.73 complete rear end out of aexplorer 31 spline also and i was woundering wat all do i have to change to run this rear end and i'm also thinkign of changing to a full race coilover set up so wat is all nessary to get this right?

 

Needs to be the proper width first of all. Changing over the LCA, panhard, shock and spring mounts is easy however a third gen uses a torque arm suspension and it's difficult to find ways to attach the torque arm to a non third gen diff. By the time you're done fabricating, it can be cheaper to just buy an aftermarket bolt in 12 bolt or 9".

The only real options to install a non third gen diff under a third gen is to completely change the suspension to do away with the torque arm. That means using a 4-link or ladder bars. Cheap alternatives is a version of a LCA that triangulates the suspension to eliminate the torque arm but this is a street only option.
