clock ticking in my trans?

Hey guys,I have a ticking sound coming from the trans(89RS,2.8,700r4).I have just recently noticed it.I hear it when I put it in gear and when I pass close to something at a slow speed. It remindes me of a baseball card in biycicle spokes. You all know the sound I'm sure we have all done it a few times in our life's.
Anyway the trans is not acting up or anything. It actually runs great. But the noise worries me.I just put $1200 in rebuilding the engine plus a trans cooler, shift kit and a few other things.I don't want to put another $1200 into a new trans or rebuilding the one I have.
Am I alone with this noise?

Just saw your post today Kevin.

I hope it's not what I think it is...a cracked flexplate. You've described what mine sounded like just before the flexplate totally disintegrated. Mine was caused by the starter not being shimmed properly, plus the bellhousing was cracked (found this out after I bought the car...). Ended up buying a rebuilt GM Goodwrench transmission for $1300, which comes with a 50k mile warranty. Haven't had any other trouble with it.

Good luck.
