Need good advice on manual swap for 460hp '91
Was wondering who has done or has good info on where to find a T-5 swap out tranny for my 91 z28....the car has around 460 hp and gets run hard...i DO NOT want to run a stock T-5.....and don't really want to run a t-56 (unless that's only choice), I would like a T-5 that can handle the power and need a website or phone number of a business that builds or sells 5-speeds for a third gen......any info though would be helpful...thanks guys.

it's not drop in, but tremec might be your only 5 speed option.

gforce sells a t5 with an upgrades case that is "supposed" to be good for the power, but people have mixed experiences. One guy on here 5678TA, has an and it running 11's with no issues, but at a price of 2500+ bux, its a better bet to use a tko600 if you want a 5 speed. Its about the same price but a much stronger trans and it will hold the power. Other than that its a used low mile t56 and swap parts, though its only rated for 450 ft/lbs from the factory.

do you guys have a website adress for these tranny's i can look at....i was hoping not to spend a butt load, but just want a manual bad for some reason.....i looked into doing a t-56 swap but cutting the torque arm and driveline, moding the crossmember is not really what i want to do..plus i'm never done adding power so the 450 hp on the six speed might not hold up down the road.....also if i am correct aren't the gear ratios in the t-56 really tall, calling for different rear end gears to compensate (which i just had a new rear end built and don't want to do it again either).....let me know what you guys think

I have a T-56 in my car, stock driveshaft is still there (well, aftermarket aluminum, but stock length) the torque arm is still stock and bolted up fine. The crossmember is the only thing that had to be cut/ made.... The trans. tunnel needed to be trimmed a bit, but it was simple. I had a 700r4 in the car when new, then changed to a T-5, now I am running a T-56...
