Alum Driveshaft
Alum Driveshaft
I was wondering what you people that have an aluminum driveshaft would rate it as worth $329. Please give me some ideas cause Im thinking about putting it on my stock 92 RS as a mod. Please rate it 1-10. 1 being "hell no I would never do that mod again!" up to 10 being "thats some awsome mod!" Thanks!

I would not spend the money unless you have some kind of problem with your current shaft, I would however spend the $150 buck it cost to get a used one, That is the average price.

The al 1LE only costs approx $230 new from Dal. I would rate it a 8.

I would rate it a 8 as well. You really won't see a performance increase but if you have a bad vibration from around 75mph or above and you know your wheels/tires are balanced, you will find this will more then likely cure your vibration. I had a really bad vibration which is now gone. I have had it to 125mph and it is rock solid smooth.
BTW, I bought mine, new, from SDPC (board sponser) and they matched DAL's price. It also come with new U-joints and front yoke. L8R

I got mine from Dal also. But if SDPC is matching the price, so much the better. Support those that sponsor the board. I went with new for piece of mind. With a used one you may need to have it re-balanced and need new bearings. I rate it a 6, but would still do it again. I didn't experience the vibration problem and was hoping for a performance gain. I've only had mine to 103, and my RS is still pretty stock, engine wise.

I still have a couple of used alum shafts, the 1LE variety, that have been offered but are as yet unsold. All are balanced, have the slip yoke, and reasonably good tubes. The rear U-joint caps are hit and miss--I'd suggest replacing anything. $155 shipped, money order, certified check, or PayPal. I've sold to many people on the board.
