Doing it properly with the right tools is the difference between it lasting 30 miles, or 3,000,000 miles. Fortunately the tools you need are inexpensive.

Sure it's a DIY, as long as you pay proper attention to detail, as with anything else.

Well I put in a shift kit and thought that wasnt too bad so This seemed easy. looks like I need some tools. Shops around here want 500$ to install gears. Screw them. I am going to not pay 90$ per hour for some guy to do work I am capable of. What tools do I need? Jegs has a ring and pinion gear installation tool that looks pretty good.

You'll need a dial indicator with magnetic base. You can get them from summit or Jegs. You can also get them from Harbor Freight if you have one in your area. I think there about $25.
