Speedo on TH350 9" tailshaft question
Hey everyone I searched all over for a rebuilt TH350 with a 9" tailshaft to swap in place of my 700r4. I found it and I bought the adaptor kit to push the original tailshaft housing. Now, my drive gear on the output shaft that is installed (the original th350 shaft) doesn't line up for the hole on the 700r4 tailhousing. I thought it wasn't a big deal because I could punch and drill a hole where the retainer clip went for the 700r4 but I ran into two problems. First, there is a taper there that makes it so the drive gear doesn't fit (at least the one that was on my 350 tranny). Second, when they say "hardened output shaft" they should emphasize hardened. I went through three drill bits and haven't scratched it.
How can I get the speedo to work? The car has a cable driven speedo.
Thanks for the help!
Mike
