Limited slip broken? Or do i have a one legger?

O.K. heres my problem, since i bought my 87 camaro a about a year ago i had always wondered if i had posi or not. sometimes when i turn and accelerate i can hear the rear left tire spin, but when i do a burnout i only have the back right tire spinning. so tonight i put the car up on jackstands and spun the rear right wheel to see actually what diff. i had. so i spun the wheel and the other one did nothing! it didnt spin backward like (i think) and open rear would and it didnt spin forward like a posi unit would. But when i went to spin the rear left tire the rear right tire spun backwards about one turn and then stopped spinning even though i was still spinning the other. so what does this mean????????

Any help would be great thanx and sorry to be so long

You have an 87 350? They all came with 9-bolt 3.27 posi rear ends, I think... Sounds like your posi is dead. And 9-bolt posi units are very expensive, if you can find one. You can re-shim it by following the tech article on here.

posi rpo is g80, do you have that? i've saw a lot of posi rears with a tag on one of the cover bolts that said to use posi additive, but that only works if no one has taken it off.

Ok, you have a 305... Carb or TPI? You'll probably need a new posi unit for 26 splined axles. Jegs sells them for $300 or you can get a new rearend from the junkyard for that much.
