Got a free tranny and would like advice
Well my uncle told me he had a low mileage 700R4 that came out of a vehicle he parted that I could have for free. I had plans to rebuild it while my car is in storage this winter and then swap them out in the spring. Turns out the tranny is a truck TH350. Now my question is, should I rebuild the TH350 and throw it in, or should I try selling/trading it for a 700R4 and then rebuild that and throw it in? I do care about gas mileage, so I know the 700R4 will get me better mileage with O/D. I had hoped to get a shift kit, better then OEM components, Corvette servo, blah, blah, blah. So any and all advice is welcome, along with what parts you'd recommend for the build.

I like a th350 but i see no reason for you to convert over to one. Used transmissions dont get to much money so you really dont have anything special. Just decide what you want to do. There is plenty of info on transmissions just do a search.

Yeah, I didn't figure it'd bring in the big bucks, but I thought if someone who had a 700R4 wanted to swap to a TH350, we'd go even. Or sell the TH350 for ~$100 then pick up a 700R4. My real problem is deciding IF I want to do that or give the TH350 a shot. I'm looking for opinions on either so I can decide what to do. I've searched the forums and I just wanted to see who likes which and why. Then, get some tips on what rebuild parts to go with.

Ok, well I think I'm gonna throw the TH350 into the car simply because I have it, I can get it rebuilt while still having a tranny in the car, and it's a whole lot cheaper than a 700R4. So now my questions:
1. Will a 3.27 rear end plus a 2000 stall be enough to overcome the lag in the TH350 off the line?
2. Since it's a truck tranny, will I just need a torque arm adapter as extra parts, or is that not necessary?
3. I've read varying opinions - what difference (numbers) in MPG will I see in the city (I know HWY will be sh*t)?
Thanks.
