ok, i have read alot of the posts on swapping a TH350 into a 3rd gen. i have an 89 bird, its a V6 and i am putting a V8 in it. I am going to put a TH350 behind it. I was going to get a drive shaft out of a TH200 car in the junk yard. Then I thought about..are the long shaft TH350's(out of a truck)and a 700R4 the same length? I thought I saw a post about using a 6 or 9in(i cant remember which, but i am assuming its the long shaft version)tranny and using the stock driveshaft. I have both short and long shafts sitting in my garage. Also, I know you have to change the crossmemeber, can I use the crossmember out of a TH200 car? I mean the TH350 is the same length right? so the xmember should work. Last question, anyone know how to "rig" a bracket up for the tourqe arm from the rearend to the tranny, and how big of deal is it if I dont use it? Thanks for all the help. Jay

Ok, just did the swap myself, and have posted here many times. Yes, you can use a th200 crossmember, if you use the 9 inch tailshaft 350 then you can use the stock 700 driveshaft, if you use the 6 inch tailshaft(which I did) 350 you have to use a th200 driveshaft-it fits perfect. If I was you, seeing that you have the 9 inch 350, I would use that so you can retain your stock driveshaft. As far as the torque arm bracket, get a Jegs magazine, and look up the brackets that hurst and b&m use, study the pictures, and if you are good at welding, make one, like I did, works perfect if you do it right.
