should my gear have broke running 13.7 et's

buddy of mine chucked his ring gear saturday in his 87iroc running 13.7 is this normal it was a 410 gm gear he was running et slicks dropping it from 2000-2400 off line jus curios cause im running a richmond 373 and im running 13.3 to 13.5 with 1.8 60ft and his 60ft was 1.9 to 2.0 was his jus not set up right or something thanks Ron

The reason your buddy broke his ring gear is due in part to running a manual tranny. Manual trannys shock the driveline very aggressively. In contrast to this is the automatic transmission which does not shock the driveline as much. I pull consistent 1.7x 60ft times in my car which has the 10-bolt (albeit modified somewhat) and don't have any problems. But, I have an automatic.

Manuals are really really hard on rearends and driveshafts
Autos are softer on rearends and driveshafts
