Engine: 5.0 carbed/ LT1 injected

Transmission: T5/auto

Axle/Gears: 373/posi

5th gear is gone t5 no!

i was driving in 5th on the highway and poof it was gone no grinding no nothing no sights anyone easle every had this happen.

Is it somthing i can fix

You'll have to remove the tailshaft housing to see. 5th gear is located in the tailshaft area. There's a snap ring that holds 5th gear in place, and it's supposedly prone to coming off. If you're lucky, that's your problem, and should be a fairly easy fix. You'll have to drop the trans to remove the tailshaft housing though.

The snap ring for 5th gear coming off is a pretty common thing. Yes you will have to remove the transmission from the car, and remove the tailshaft to replace it.
