Converter swap ????
Converter swap ????
I'm gonna have to install a new converter in my 87 Iroc next weekend. I was wondering if you have to completely drop the tranny, or if you can unbolt it and slide it back far enough to get inside it. Either way, whats the best procedure for doing this swap ? Thanx in advance :-)

To do this with the least fustration, you really need to drop the tranmission.
You don't realy need to pull from under the car, but you need to pull it down & away from the engine to give you plenty of room.
The Converter is very heavy when your trying to lift it on your back, and you need to make sure it's fully seated. Your old one is going wiegh a bunch, cause that sucker is full of oil.
Let me tell you, them things are a turd to put on when the trannie is sitting on the garage floor, especially when the converter is new cause the tollerances are super close between the converter and your input shaft.
Good Luck,
