10 bolt question.

Hey, I searched but did not find what i need to know.

My question: is a 1984 10 bolt the same as a 1992 10 bolt?
I want to perform the mods from here: https://www.thirdgen.org/beefinguprear and wondered if all the P/N's are the same with an 84 10 bolt.

Thanks, Steve.

Re: 10 bolt question.

Yes and no. Physically, they can be considered the same. The castings changed slightly over the years but they're still the same.

The 84 will have 26 spline axles and a 7.5" ring gear. The 92 will have a 7-5/8" ring gear but it's considered the same. They both fit on the same carrier. The 92 will have 28 spline axles but 90-92 third gen 28 spline axles can be installed into an older housing as long as a carrier (posi) that's designed for 28 spline axles is used.
