Any difference between a 2WD S10 700R4 and ours?
I have a lead on a decent 700R4 out of a 2wd '92 S10. Stock converter, rebuilt with a B&M shift kit & billet servo. Any difference in case length or anything? Don't think there is but thought I'd ask to see if someone knows for sure while I do some research. Mines spent and figured this is a good opportunity to move up to a 30-spline shaft as well.

I know the cases are the same but you may have to change the tail shaft depending on the speed sensor configuration. Also see if there is a K stamped on the case those are the stronger casings

Are the tailshafts interchangable between 82 & 92?

Yes and no the length is the same but a 82 will have a speedo bullet for the cable and a 92 will have a VSS. If you have to swap the tailshaft housing its no big deal it should take you about half an hour if you've never done it before

Cool, I knew the speed sensors were different but it seems like swapping tailshafts will take care of any issues. I've swapped tailshafts on a th350 before so I should be good.
Not concerned about the torque arm mount as I plan to install an aftermarket torque arm that doesn't mount to the trans anyway.
Shifter placement doesn't matter, shift rod on trans should be the same, different linkage on the different cars takes care of that.

If it's from a 4.3L it should be the same. The 2.8L 700R4 will have the 60* V6 bellhousing (but would fit a 2.8/3.1 f-body).

Thanks for all of the input guys, I picked it up the other night and it has the K stamped on the bellhousing. Found it on craigslist.com and turns out the guy selling is friends with my brother so I ended up getting it for just $200.
