2 general T-5 questions

2 general T-5 questions

1. do all 89 v8 thirdgens have the WC t-5 (I know tpi cars do, what about the tbi cars). 2. any speedo problems putting up to a late model WC ('92) in an 87 car ? TIA

Axle/Gears: 12-Bolt 3.73
Yes, all 88-92 cars have the world class T5.

The 92 T5 will bolt right in to the 87 car, but the speedo will have to be swapped with the one already in your car. The 87 speedo is cable driven while the 92 is electronic. Its a direct swap. But you might also have to change the speedo gear on the tail shaft inside the trans, if it doesnt match up.

Wait, so this means that it's easy to change the speedo drive on the tail shaft from electric to mechanical? I have an '82 T/A and just bought a '91 WC T-5 and I need to keep the mechanical speedo 'cause of the speed sensor for the computer. I live in LA so I would like to not get busted by the smog police. Thanks for your input.

What's the "smog police" have to do with your speedo ? LOL
