Ditched the computer... now it shifts hard!

I just bypassed the computer and installed a Holley carb. I got the bracket Holley said I had to have for the 700R4. My TV cable is pulled all the way out and it has a little play in the line. It shifts at 3000 rpms, but really hard, it every gear. I don't mind the 3000rpm shift point, but the fact that even in first it does it and pounds into 2nd... even at part throttle. Almost like I am manually shifting from 1 to 2 then to 3...

Also, when I do rev up to say 3000 in 3rd, then it slowly goes down as the car slows down, it doesn't drop immediately. Is this normal?

Well, I cannot adjust it any more loose because the bracket is so far away from the stud that it is all the way out. I did try to tighten it a little and the shift points rose to about 4000, but it was still hard and reving the same (as if it was locked up in all gears?).

Can't say this from hands-on experience, but I believe the length of the arm on the Holley is shorter than on a TH700R4 q-jet (for instance). So, the Holley is not pulling the cable as far, and therefore the adjustment will not be proper.

There was a post somewhere recently on this, with pictures.

I would definatly say its with the TV cable, but since I have never dealt with the problem, I can't really tell you what to do.
