Flywheel

ok im gonna be doing my tranny and clutch change after work, a few people have told me i have to have the flywheel resurfaced. is there a way i can do this myself? what materals do i need? also im only changing the clutch because i will have the tranny out, so as far as i know everything should be in good shape, what kind of prep should i do to the flywheel before installing my new clutch?

thanks..

The cost of getting one done is usually only $20-$30. You could probably clean the surface on your own but you wont be able to make sure its flat. Heck I just took one that was covered in surface rust and ended up with a flywheel that looks brand new. Not wroth the hastle and I dont see how you can do it yourself anyways for only $20.

Lock is correct, get your flywheel resurfaced at a machine shop. It helps ensure good friction between the flywheel and your new clutch. And most places charge only $20 to do it.

From: pgh,pa,
the only problem is that im using my freinds garage, and his lift, and he is a commercial garage, so i have to do it all tonight, and all the places i know of that resurface flywheels close before 6:00 and that is when im going to start workin on it, because that is when he closes his doors to customers.so im trying to find a way to do it myself. because he has to have all his bays open for tommorow.
