Hey guys,
I just bought a 5spd tranny for my firebird and was looking at some headers for my car next. All the ones ive been seeing have been saying they wont work with manual trannys but only with the 700R4 with some modifications.
Any ideas on what headers are good and will fit with the 5 spd. The motor is a 350 if it matter, car is an '87 Formula.

Re: 5spd tranny with what headers?
i have a hooker shorty and y pipe combo on my camaro. Bought it for the car when it was a 700 and it still fits fine with the T5 in. The only thing I had to do was make a bracket to hold the cat and back of the y pipe up. I think they're 2055s but i honestly can't remember exactly

I'm unsure of what you've been looking at, but the following direct-fit system will fit your requirements: Hooker 2055's (Jeg's 520-2055). Catco high-flow converter (Summit CTO-9118). Hooker catback (Summit HOK-16823HKR).

My Headman shorties and matching y-pipe fit no problem. However, my exhaust is all custom so the brackets holding stuff up (read I-pipe back) were fabricated.

Re: 5spd tranny with what headers?
the only time you will run into issues is if you are planning to use long tube headers. Any shorty will work AFAIK

Headman LT headers will not work in a 5 speed car without some modification. Hooker LT's, and Dougs LT's will work, but hang a bit lower.
