torque convertor ???

o.k. i bought a 88sc to replace my 89rs that was t boned . it has lots of issues . its an auto ( 700r4 ) , my 89 had a t-5 . anyway it has no cover over the torque convertor . in trying to find a cover for it i hear many comments saying they were removed for cooling . they say if not kept cool the torque convertor will take a dump . now i can understand the cooling of the tranny fluid , and will put an aux cooler on mine soon . any way the talk i have heard they say , only the torque convertor goes bad . sounds weird to me . anyone else heard this ? thanks in advance .

Re: torque convertor ???

I've always ran with the torque converter inspection cover in place (duh) with no over-heating problems...you wouldn't want to take the chance of road debris getting in there. Put a cover on!! Cool the trans with the radiator and a trans cooler. Running w/out the cover is...like taking the hood off so the engine doesn't over-heat
