New trans time
Hey everyone. New to the boards and to 3rdGens. I just picked up an 89 Firebird that was originally a V6 but now has a carbed 350 in it. I knew the trans was going when I bought it and I've already taken first gear out. It has a 700R4 in there now and I was thinking about putting a M-22 or a 5 spd out of a camaro/transam.
Just looking for some info and opinions on switching from auto to manual and anything else you guys can tell me
Thanks

Re: New trans time
So if I already have a 700R4 in there should I just rebuild it? The trans slips bad under any significant accel or if it kicks down a gear. It did make it 10 hrs on the interstate to get it home. The trans fluid still looks good. Anything else that would make it easier to diagnose just ask
Re: New trans time
Your could rebuild your but honestly you would be better served to get one from some one who specializes in these units built for power if you plan on making some real go with that car and get you a good converter at the same time

What do you guys think of this?
Plans for the car it drive it mostly on the street and maybe hit the track a couple times a summer. I'm guesstimating that I'm sitting around 300HP right now and would like to get it in the 400-500HP range.
Would this be okay? Any different recommendations? Companies to talk to? etc...

Re: New trans time
I went to an auction on the weekend and picked up 2 R4's, 1 TH350 and 1 NV3500.
Between the R4's and the Th350, which would you put into your car?
For the NV3500, will it even work in the firebird? If not I don't really care. There going for $800 on ebay without the T-case, which it came with
