Jack up the rear and spin a tire, if the other side tire turns the same direction, then you have posi. If it turns the other direction you have an open dif. Or you could do it the easy way and just light them up and check to see if you leave one or two burn-out marks on the pavement. good luck!!!

do it the easy way. Go power brake the car and if there are two lines of rubber on the road, its posi, if theres only one, its not

If you still have the RPO sticker in your center console, look for the code G80. That means your car came with posi. But it could be dead by now...

ive heard of people saying there posi went out. i must be lucky. i have 150,000 miles on my car and they are still leaving 2 marks on the road. this is on an 82 T/A. if i have posi does that mean i have WS6. the rear end it all stock

If it's an Eaton Locker limited slip, like my '85 IROC, you can't tell by just jacking it up and seeing if the other wheel turns in the same or opposite direction. It engages when there is (I believe) a 100 rpm difference in the speed of the 2 wheels. You have to spin one wheel by hand as fast as you can and at some point the other one will turn.

My posi just blew up, I mean exploded. the gear that engages the cluch disks on the driver's side exploded a while back. But I can still do posi(sometimes)
