Does anyone know what i can use as far as a Posi unit for some recently purchased 3.73 Richmond gear 3 series carrier? Its gonna go in my 87 TransAm.Do i really need to go buy a Posi from auburn? That will set me back like 3 bills or more.Thanks in advance.

 

richmond makes 3:73 gear sets for either 2 or 3 series carriers. you need the part number off the gears and you need to know what you have.

I have the Richmond 3.73 Gears with the 3 series carrier. I believe my current gears are 2.73.

 

the auburn unit is suppsedly very good, and if you want a good posi it seems to be the way to go. also you need to find out if you have 26 or 28 spline axles.

I believe its a 28 spl. Its an 87 10 bolt 7.5. I know that the auburn is good, but i was hoping to pay less.

 

I belive You have the 26 Splines, as I understand it The 28's started appearing Intermittantly In 89 and were slwoly phased in.
