Somebody give me an education...
I purchased a disc brake posi rearend from an '88 Iroc (still has 26 spline axles) and I do not like the calipers. I hear that the '91-'92 models use the 1LE calipers. Is this true? What do I have to do to use the 1LE calipers? New rotors? Adapter bracket?

'89 and later came with the PBR aluminum calipers and they were both mounted on the rear of the axle instead of staggered.
You will need the PBR calipers, and they can be sourced from any auto parts store as reman's. I think the rotors are larger as well, 11.65" versus 10.5"
The backing plates/caliper mounts need to be changed to use the PBR calipers, and that is the tough part. It is my understanding those backing plates are tough to find.
This info all applies to a 9 bolt rear. I don't have experience with a 10 bolt.

I found a 1992 Formula 1LE in the junkyard. By the time I went over to grab a buddy and more tools, I saw some schleps walking out with the rearend and front brakes. Learned my lesson real quick, always come prepared.
Anyway, the two punk *** 's did leave the rear brake calipers, cages, ebrake cables, master cylinder and combination valve. I picked up a set of NOS backing plates and have all of that in storage if you are interested. The Master should be okay but the calipers look like they need a rebuilding. I believe these will only fit a 10 bolt disc rearend.
