throttle valve cable question.. (detent cable)

i have a 1987 350tpi z28. 700r4 tranny. the guy i got the car from had done some mad scientist work to it swappin junk around.. my question is, and its a long shot.... Does anyone know what length the stock t.v.(detent) cable is for a 1987 350tpi z28? both part stores in town have different lengths... and neither is the length of the one i pulled out... the one i pulled out is approx 51.25" Can anyone help me? lol

Same problem here mine is longer than the stock ones. Even went to a local trans shop and they couldn't find the right one. I was in the parts store going thru year after year and never found it. If you do let me know as well as will I if I find out.

Go to a GM dealer and bring your VIN. They will get you the right one. Aftermarket stuff is usually "universal" but doesn't fit anything.

thnx for the advice gmptech. i had gone ahead and used the 51.25" t.v. cable and it seems to be workin well, but for future trans parts endeavors, i'm goin to the dealer..lol
