A Juvinile Question...

... From a Sorta Juvinile Guy.

When You Do a brakestand ( we all know what that is ) What Damage aside From Tire wear are You causeing, and Is there anything BAD about it ? or just normally acclerated wear associated with raceing anyways.

In other words, Is there anything just waiting To break when You do this ?

Extensive "PowerBraking" or "Brakestanding" can cause the torque converter to overheat, but other than that, nothing that wouldn't normally brake during a regular tire-spin.

it would be best too use a line locker, set it up so you can use it from inside the car.that way when the cops show up you can use your rear brakes as you get chased away!

I used to do some nonsense brake stands with my trans am,the rear disc brakes were toasted, the 700r4 shifts a little softer,no trouble from the rearend, not to sure about the engine.overall the car got pretty badly beaten. it would have been better to use a line locker, but it was still fun.

Definately tires and brakes. Also, I busted a motor mount in my '70 Impala doing a brake stand. Other than that, not a whole lot (as if that isn't enough. Have fun and don't get caught.

I have a 91 RS 3.1. Yea i know .. its a baby ... yada yada yada.

Well anyways i used to beat the crap out of it and powerbrake with the best of em. Other than going thru 4 rear tires. in 2 months They were ****ty goodyears but not the point.
I blew out my rear wheel cylinders and locked up a front brakeline. On top of that ... i went thru 3 tranny mounts. The tranny mounts i replaced it with i guess jus sucked. But still weakened the crap out of em.

Hey it was fun to do better burn outs then the idiots with the 5.0 stangs but cost a damn pretty penny since i had to get the wheel cylinders done at a mechanic cus i was out at college when i found out.

BTW where can i get a good tranny mount that wont explode at the slightest bit of torque. Im guessing polyurethane but jus wanted to know if there was something i was missing.

Thanks.

My opinion have fun with the burn outs and stuff if u got some new tires and other stuff lined up and jus wanna beat it up.

Yep, the ES poly mount is the one... $27 thru Summit. Prothane also makes one now, and it's cheaper; Summit Racing has that one too.
I have the Energy Suspension one, after busting two stock ones with my 2.8.
