Non lock up converter in a 700R4! Modifications?
Non lock up converter in a 700R4! Modifications?
I have a 4500rpm non lock up installed in a 1988 camaro! It is behind a 355 with aprox 425HP. If I run the shifter in #3 position and not in the #3 lockup position, will I have to modify the trans to prevent oil flow to the converter for the lock up? In short, will this work like a 350Th in this shifter possition? Will this operate with out damage to the trans or the converter?
Let me know! Thank you!

I believe you have to do something with the lockup valve in the front pump, there may be posts online. Also IIRC remove the check ball in the input shaft. Aside from that make sure you have a good secondary cooler if its street driven. That thing is going to generate serious heat!
