well as the title says i have spent months getting my shift kit installed and my new to me trans installed. do you guys have any ideas

 

I'll be the first to say it... you might want to mention what is wrong before you can get any help.

 

i have no idea what is wrong. all i know is that it is full of fluid seams to work off the ground but cant back out of my garage

 

Took me a minute to figure out what you meant by off the ground. So you can get it to shift through all gears and into reverse with the rear off the ground, but when you get vehicle load on it you have nothing?

*TV cable adjusted properly?

*Did you install the shift-kit yourself? If so, all the ***** installed in the correct locations? Correct ***** removed or added?

*You can physically feel all the shifts 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 when it's off the ground? I know that is hard to do, but I'm sure if you feather it you can get the shifts to show up.

Other than that, I would say it would have to be something wrong with a leaking seal that would give the loss in pressure needed for the clutches. If you cannot feel any shifts, and cannot get reverse, you might want to make sure the pump is working. Not sure how you would do it, but I suppose if you had some way of seeing if you have pressure going up to the cooler in the radiator, that would tell you if you are getting anything from the pump. If not it might need to be primed somehow. When I put mine together, I made sure to put a bit of extra vasaline on the ends of the vanes so they would seal good against the pump body, but not get stuck in the rotor during startup.

 

I put in the check ***** that it showed me to in the picture. I have a tv geometry corrector on my carb and the cable is pulled out as far as I can get it. Some time I will get a pressure gauge and see how much pressure I have coming from the pump.

 

did you put fluid in the torgue converter before you installed it? i assmume you have it all appart.

 

It is together now but I did put fluid in the converter before I installed it.

I know I took out more check ***** than I put in but all the instructions told me to put in was the four that I put in

 

Was this transmission working ok before you installed the Shift kit?

 

That could be part of your problem. You need to have it in as far as it will go and then turn your throttle by hand as far open as it will go. No more, no less. I'm not sure which way I had it, but it would not shift out of any gear until about 2000-2500 rpm. Would also break a rear wheel loose shifting out of park, or neutral into a gear.
I've also had slow shifts because it was not out far enough. Rebuilt the trans, installed shiftkit, etc. Didn't set TV cable right and burned up 3-4 clutches. After second rebuild I decided to try what everyone had been telling me with the TV cable. Trans shifts very well now.

 

well i bought a trans pressure gauge. what preshrunk should i have in park, reverse, neutral, drive and at what rpms and at load and no load.

Also I think froward is just fine it acts good in the air. I just must not be used to how 3200 stalls act and I cant rely drive being it stuck in the garage . Reverse on the other hand in the air will turn at idle and very light throttle but I try to speed it up a bit and then the driver side stops spinning.

o and by as far out as I can get it I meant the outer sheathing is as far back (close to the fire wall) as it will go. It is a bought as taught as it can be.

 

up date had a friend help me push it out side and i took it around the block. the line pressure is very week in forward and reverse (30 psi slowly raising to about 50 psi with the throttle at about 1/3) any ideas.

 

Was this transmission ever working correctly? Has the front pump been rebuilt?

 

i dont know for sure i bought the trans used it was saposta be in working condition with about 70k miles on it and it was very clean when I instaled your transgo shift kit.

whats is the turn around time on a 700R4 Pro Street 1988 & Up I am thinking not to even try to get this going this year it is already getting cold and just putting a new one in it some time and rebuilding the one that is in it over what little time i have so i have a spare.

 

I would drop the pan and see if the snap ring that holds the boost valves fell out. If it did you will find the boost valves in the bottom of the pan. Call me this evening, 909 7951876 Dana

 

Here's a dumb question. Did you put a filter back in it before you bolted up the pan?

 

yep the filter is in it but there is no guarantee that it didn't fall out some how.
