GTA differential blowing fluid ?

Never experienced this before. My 87 GTA is shooting fluid from the relief/pressure valve. It is the plastic covered nozzel on the far left top of the rearend.

Any thoughts as to what would cause this?

Thanks,

Jim

excessive heat build up in the fluid. i'd pull the cover and cheack the bearings on the carrier, the pinion, and the axles as well as any other parts for wear and tear. be a good time to change the fluid and add posi additive if you have posi any way.

Water in the fluid, combined with heat, will do that every time. Speaking strictly from experience as a boat person.

It sounds like you need to pull the cover, real soon.

I plan to pull the cover this week. She uses GL-5 (80W-90) and the additive...correct?

Thanks for the info.

75W90 is the more typical weight these days.

If you fill it with AMSOIL Series 2000 75W90, you won't have to buy the additive. And, you'll start enjoying the benefits of synthetic lubricants.
