Is this Rear Diff Cover Stock on my 1982 T/A?
In tearing down my 82 Trans Am, something on the rear differential caught my eye:

The metal tag says, "Use Limited Slip Differential Lube Only". Does anyone know if this tag (and the diff cover painted orange/red) are stock?

The car's build sheet is long gone and I have yet to find the stamp on the axle to tell me what it is. Thanks.

can't help on the color question . if the cover has 10 bolts ( looks like it does ) , and stock rearend you more than likely have 2.73 gears LSD . good luck .

That is a GM tag. I have never seen a cover painted from the factory. You should have a RPO decal in the car somewhere. Some were on the bottom of the console lid, some behind the spare tire cover, and some may be in another location. Look for G80 on the decal.
